I've been to my fair share of parks around Amarillo and I think I'm qualified to give you some insight on the best ones. Over the years, I've come across 6 different parks that each offer something special and unique. In this article, I'll be giving a review for each one of them!

I'm sure you'll find that these reviews are full of fun details and plenty of lightheartedness. So if you're looking for a great park to hang out with friends or have a lovely day outdoors, keep reading!


Sam Houston Park

When I enter the park, I am welcomed by lush green grass and trees of all varieties. Sam Houston Park also has modern outdoor playgrounds and many different picnic areas for families to gather and enjoy. The large pond in the center of the park is incredibly serene, making me forget that I'm in a big city.

The trails at Sam Houston Park are often my favorite part. These wide, winding trails offer a great opportunity to go for a jog or take a leisurely stroll. Additionally, the trails are beautifully maintained and often have interesting art installations along them making it an even better experience.

I've been to many parks while traveling but none compare to the beauty of Sam Houston Park in my hometown of Amarillo. It's truly one of the best parks in town!

Glenwood Park

Glenwood Park

The scenery is spectacular, with the lush trees and foliage making it a perfect spot to enjoy a picnic or just sit and relax. The playground is great for kids of all ages, with plenty of fun activities and amenities like swings, slides, and more. I especially love the large rock area where you can climb up a mini mountain and get an amazing view of Amarillo from the top!

The park also has plenty of walking trails and is well-maintained. It's easy to get to from anywhere in the city, so there's no need to travel far for some peace and quiet.

Overall, I think Glenwood Park is one of the best parks in Amarillo. With its beautiful scenery, multiple attractions, and accessibility - it's truly a great place to spend time outdoors. Highly recommended!

It has an incredible amount of recreational activities to choose from, including tennis courts, a softball field, a fishing pond, and even a sand volleyball court. There are plenty of picnic tables and gazebos set up all around the park, so you can enjoy great outdoor meals with your family or friends.

The highlight of Gene Howe Park is its incredible playground area. It's full of some of the latest and greatest play equipment available for kids. From slides and monkey bars to rock-climbing walls, there's something for everyone. My kids absolutely love it and always beg me to take them back!

Gene Howe Park also boasts amazing walking trails that wind through its lush green landscape. With plenty of benches along the way, you can take in all the beautiful surroundings as you take a peaceful stroll around the park.

All in all Gene Howe Park is one of the best parks in Amarillo – it's packed with great things to do and stunning scenery to explore!

The setting of John Stiff Memorial Park makes it stand out from other parks in Amarillo. It is nestled in a green and lush valley, with beautiful mountain and lake views, making it the perfect spot to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The activities available at John Stiff Memorial Park are top notch. You can choose from a wide range of outdoor amenities such as hiking trails, fishing, kayaking or bird watching within the park. The park also has an amphitheater for performances, numerous playgrounds for children to play on, picnic areas, and plenty of open space for sports activities like soccer or volleyball.

Throughout the years, I have had the pleasure of visiting many parks in different cities, but none compare to Paramount Park. From its well-maintained grounds to its wide range of activities offered, this park is a must visit for anyone looking to have a fun time outdoors.

The park features a picturesque lake with plenty of seating and a playground area perfect for children. The accessibility of the park also makes it easy for people with disabilities to get around and enjoy the beauty of nature while they're there.

The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained with green grass, plenty of trees providing shade, and some lovely flowers blooming throughout the year. There's also plenty of open space to run around in or lay down your blanket and relax after a long day exploring all that Amarillo has to offer.

For those looking for more engaging activities, there are tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, and even an outdoor gym equipped with all sorts of exercise machines. Plus, you can even rent boats or bring your own paddleboard if you want to spend some time out on the lake!

The park is great for families of all ages and the amenities are top notch. The large playground area with its colorful equipment, turf surfaces, and shady trees provide a safe environment for children to have fun. The green space is also perfect for flying kites, kicking balls, taking leisurely strolls and having picnics.

What really sets Southlawn Park apart from other parks in Amarillo is its wonderful volleyball court that's freshly painted and well maintained. It's an amazing place to hold tournaments while making some great memories with your family and friends!

It's difficult to find something negative about Southlawn Park. I will say that I wish it was open longer during the summer months, but that's a minor complaint compared to how much this park has to offer. All in all, I think Southlawn Park is one of the best parks in Amarillo!
